Anglo Indian Cuisine – 25 October 2020

“Anglo-Indian cuisine is the cuisine that developed during the British Raj in India, as the British wives interacted with their Indian cooks.

The cuisine introduced dishes such as kedgeree, mulligatawny and pish pash to English palates. One of the few Anglo-Indian foods that has had a lasting impact on English cuisine is chutney.

Anglo-Indian cuisine was first popularised in England in the 1930s by the Veeraswamy restaurant, followed by a few others, but not by typical Indian restaurants”.

East India Cafe is one of a limited number of restaurants passionate about Anglo Indian cuisine. While research and development is a key to our process, innovative modern twists are added to each of our dishes to present a powerful amalgamation of two very distinct cultures.

Proposed sample items:

  • Croquette and Pakoras served with salad and chutneys
  • Salt Beef Steak, horseradish, chilli oil
